FAQ

Fundamentals

HTML a mystery to you?

HTML is like the magician's wand to the trick of turning a graphic design into a website. Designs come to us as a Photoshop PSD or Fireworks PNG file and we convert it into HTML, CSS and images - a webpage - which is ready to be hosted as a website. Let us do our magic on your design!

Can I perform the conversion myself?

It's no secret that you can export a Photoshop PSD or even export from MS-Word to HTML. In addition, you can bring images into HTML conversion software programs like Dreamweaver or Fireworks. These results can give the illusion of a good design conversion to HTML. But, what you see is not always what your clients, your prospects, and your visitors will get… Rather, the HTML code behind these conversions most often results in a webpage that is slow to load, is not viewable in all the major web browsers, or can't be easily found in the search engines. Not to mention typical conversions lack many other fine details that bring value to your website that you only get with custom markup!

We quote each project on an individualized basis. Down to the smallest detail, we want to be sure we've included exactly what you want, with the options you choose, and how it will function. This allows us to provide you a comprehensive proposal that includes the details of your request. Looking for a rough estimate? We can do that too. Fill out the Order page with as simple or complex of details about your project and we will reply with a rough estimate or a comprehensive proposal based on your information. Technical

What types of source files do you accept?

The source files we accept are Photoshop PSD and Fireworks PNG files. These are the only applications that can create the layered source files for website designs.

Flattened designs in other formats like JPEG or PDF can sometimes be converted, but in many cases, special features are not achievable or have undesirable results. We think its best to stick with source files that work best for the medium we are working with so you get the best results possible.

Will my website display correctly across browsers?

Browser compatibility is important so visitors see your website the way you intended. We create HTML and CSS code according to W3C standards, and our markup is displayed correctly in all popular browsers including Internet Explorer 7 & 8 (6 by request), and the latest versions of Firefox and Safari.

Can graphic text effects be applied to HTML text?

Yes and no. CSS is getting better as time goes on and there are many presentation effects that can used to make your site look less boring. However, Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8 have been very slow to adopt these new CSS standards. So, yes we can add cool effects, but IE 8 and below users will not see most of them. Your content will degrade gracefully and be completely visible in older browsers though.

Can you remake the markup of an existing site?

What is 508 Accessibility?

Section 508 requires federal agencies and federal contractors using electronic media to comply with technical specifications and performance-based requirements so that people with disabilities have acces to and use of information and data comparable to that of those who are not disabled. Visit the access-board.gov for more information. However, required compliance is not the only reason you should consider 508 accessibility.

Consumerism and the reliance on information dissemination through websites, continues to grow at a rapid rate. With around 54 million Americans having some level of disability, it is important to include accessibility features so you can reach all of your intended clients, prospects and site visitors.
